2025 Olde Towne East Summer Tour of Homes (Featuring Thurber House)

SUNDAY, JULY 13 in OLDE TOWNE EAST & Thurber House

This event is hosted by the Olde Towne East Neighborhood Association. It is not a Thurber House-run event.

About THE EVENT

The Olde Towne East Summer Tour of Historic Homes features 10 magnificent homes and gardens within the Historic Olde Towne East Neighborhood on the city's Near East side. Homeowners and volunteers will be on site to help guide you through the various homes and answer questions about their history, architecture, renovations, and more.

This year, the Olde Towne East Summer Tour of Homes is making a little detour: to Thurber House! We’re very excited to be an official tour stop this year. Our staff and volunteers will be on hand to tell you about every nook and cranny of the historic former home of humorist James Thurber and answer your questions.

Built in 1873 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Thurber House was home to James Thurber and his family from 1913–1917, while James was a student at The Ohio State University. Thurber House opened as a museum in 1984 after extensive renovation.
